About Shari Kudsia

Shari Kudsia is an elementary teacher in Toronto with over 25 years of classroom experience. She is certified by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE) at both the Classroom Educator and Associate levels.

Over the past eight years, Shari has embedded Structured Literacy into her classrooms, helping students of all abilities become more confident readers, writers, and spellers through explicit, systematic instruction. More recently, her work has expanded to incorporate the science of learning, including evidence-based principles such as retrieval practice, cognitive load, spacing, and interleaving.

Shari has co-presented at the Literacy and Language Educator Conference and has facilitated professional learning for the International Dyslexia Association (IDA Ontario) and schools across Ontario. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for IDA Ontario, where she supports initiatives that improve outcomes for individuals with dyslexia and other related reading differences.

Inspired by her own journey of relearning how to teach spelling through Structured Literacy, Shari developed Spell With Confidence to make explicit, systematic spelling instruction practical, accessible, and engaging for every classroom. Through Spelliosity, she shares classroom-tested resources, professional learning, and practical strategies grounded in structured literacy and the science of learning.

A lifelong learner, Shari is passionate about bridging research and classroom practice so that every child has the opportunity to succeed with confidence and self-esteem intact.
