Working With Marker <e>

Give your students targeted practice identifying the roles of marker <e> in words. This exercise helps them recognize when <e> marks a long vowel (ape), prevents <u> or <v> from ending words (true, have), softens <g> or <c> (stage, voice), cancels suffixes (mouse), and distinguishes lexical words (tie).
